That magic drawing book...

In response to some of your queries, here is the book I used to create Cilla.

It's a fantastic book, however, it is an advanced overview of techniques, textures, and etc. If you haven't quite mastered the fundamentals, I would suggest buying one for their more in depth and specific books first; like this one for faces, etc...

My *new* BEST horse drawing :)

Very pleased with it :D

It took me four hours and 20 different colored pencils -- but it was soooo worth it!

Thunderstorms have been ripping through the area{And a few tornado warnings O.o}, so I can't really post - :/ But anyway.

A few drawings

'Draco Bambino'

This is a dress design that sort of sprang at me :) I'm no dress fan{excluding Medieval wear} But I wouldn't mind a simple, summery dress like this one.

 A character that formed in my mind while reading a book set in 1100 Palestine, 'Salina' was something  different from my usual people. I like how her costume came out. I wasn't at all sure at first how to draw medieval Middle Eastern wear, but I went for it and, if not historically correct, made something unique.  I also learned a little bit of Arabic writing for her nick-name "Ocean Eyes"{she has blue eyes, which is rare if not impossible over there :)} However, I have no idea how to pronounce it.

Salina

These two horses are also from a book. Shame the arab doesn't get a name in it besides "The Black Arab" *rolls eyes* How original. I drew them both really small and basically. Maybe I'll do larger ones some time....

Vivien Leigh and a horse named Browni

I am of course talking about these... ;)

My Mum likes the actress Vivien Leigh a lot and so for Valentines Day a drew a picture of said actress for the front of Mum's card :) I'm really happy with the way it turned out!

This I did quite recently and I'm pretty happy with it... Mostly... I'd better stop looking at it closely or I'll take it down... :P

Tessa's Meggie {my favorite ;D}

Yay!!! A dress! While I like drawing all kinds of outfits, Medieval gowns are by far my favorite!! And this is the first one on Blogger that I'm actually happy with!{the others...meh.}
I used smoother paper to see if it would keep the lead and color from mixing and making the drawing look 'dirty' and it worked :)
I hope you like the bright colors Tessa! I was going to put her in a dark green at first, but then, every medieval dress is green! I like the 'Springy-ness' of this one; very fresh looking. I enjoyed designing the locket too. And sword. :) Feedback, please!

I didn't use any visual aid or 'dummies' for this one, and its the first one I've done like this too:) That's why she's not perfect..:){Ugh! I can't get over the legs! I started her too low down so I was running out of room and had to shorten her up a bit...} I don't have anything against Tats:) as long as they're decent :D. I based hers on an islander pattern I once saw... I couldn't fit three stripes without making it look like too much. I like the face detail, if I do say so myself:)

Costume design, anyone?{writers please read}

Alright. I am trapped inside my home during a blizzard that is going to go down in history, SO, with four feet of snow out my window, I feel like designing some outfits... But can't think of anything. Alas! So I had this thought, do any of you writers have a dress or something that your heroin wears in your books that you'd like me to draw? I'm afraid I don't have a guy "dummy" so it would have to be a girl.{besides, their clothes are much more fun:)}

I'll use HB pencils and colored pencils for the color. I could even try water-color paints if you'd like.

Well, if you do have something for me just comment with a DETAILED description of whatever it is{dress/armor} AND the character, and when I finish I'll post it up here and you can take it and what not:)
If you don't quite have it sorted out, you can give me your idea(s) and I can go from there.
Example images would be fine, if you have one.

One costume can take from one hour to four.

October first and a chance of snow

The title says it all. *sigh* Good-bye indian summer! I'm really surprised it lasted this long! But, I guess it had to end sometime... 

Yesterday it was 84*, today it's 48* and winds up to 60 mph, and tomorrow we're going to get snow. But that's just the Great Plains for you! You never know what the weather will do. Here come the ice chopping days....yuuuuuck!

So, is it snowing anywhere else?

Last night I drew Gwyn and Emy as little girls.:) Happy with it! I'll try and post it tomorrow, depending on wether I'm on time for school or not.{That's why I wasn't on yesterday}

This one I loved drawing!! I named it 'The Irish Beast' on account of the girls hair really. She looks Irish, right?

This one was inspired by an anime(sp?) cartoon-like thingy. It was a very small picture, but my imagination took it and made this.

This one I really like. The only problem I have is I tried to make her head tilted slightly, but it makes her face look a tad uneven:( Drat.

This crazy old man was a blast to draw!! I've never drawn a person with so much personality! It was like I knew him! His story? He claims his 'moon rocks' have magical powers: to draw birds to him. His moon rocks are birdseed. lol :P

This is kind of an attempt at a self portrait, without meaning it. lol If that makes sense:s Yeah. Me and Shyanne.:)

This is titled: 'Wishful Thinking'  because I drew it last winter when I was longing for Summer. And a marten. :)

That's all I have time for right now, but my next post of drawings will be of dragons I've made up.

This one I really liked drawing. Its an Irish Wolfhound finding a lost colt in a blizzard. I named it 'Snow Angel'

This is horse is named Charm, he's from a book I read awhile back.

You've probably seen this guy on my sidebar. His name is Sun Brier from 'King of the Wind'. He's my best horse drawing and needless to say my favorite.:) *gushes*

I'm having mixed emotions about this one. I kind of like it and yet.... not. :s

This isn't all of them. I probably will post a couple more drawings post.

This is a concept sketch for a final drawing in my art class. Which I ended up hating the finished product.

This is one of my favorites!!! {even if it doesn't have a horse} I love my goats. And I miss them. The person wasn't actually intended, but I needed a center focus {other then another goat} to balance it out.

This is another concept sketch page, where I explored the movements/features of a colt. Don't ask me what the human is doing in it. I have no idea. She just popped up.

This is one of my first 'good' dogs. I got the idea from a birthday card.

Ahhh. This little hedgehog has quite a story, but I'm afraid its frightfully long and so I'll just say that his name is Hedge-a-hooga. .... yeah....
